With time passing, and needing to get a sink installed upstairs in the garage apartment, I finally tackled the cedar wall where a 48 x 48 awning window replaced the very old slider entrance. Having never attempted anything like this before I stumbled along (like I did with the stone wall outside) and finally finished up the woodworking part in November (more images to follow soon). Next is finishing things up by: adding the trim frame on the top and sides; filling all the nail holes with wood filler; sanding the whole wall; and finally oiling the wall with a simple finishing oil like Milk Paint’s tung oil. Time will tell.
Part two of this project was building some cabinets for a small work area along the short wall behind which is the bathroom. That has now become a small pantry with a sink and IKEA cabinets at the base and on the wall. Just had (3/4/26) the countertop installed and the plumbing into the water and drain below happened April 15 and 16, 2026. Finally I can cook food, wash dishes, and enjoy my little tree fort in the Wellfleet woods.

Tuesday – Thursday, December 2 to 4, 2025 started the cabinets for my work area.
Step 1 was building the IKEA cabinets…
… and step 2 was building the cabinet bases.
I’ve done the cabinets before, but this was my first attempt at the bases.
Next step is tying everything in to the wall and floor.
